Deep Space Nineties

More Deep Space Nine.
I just got finished 'Let He Who Is Without Sin' and 'Things Past'. I can see why our heroes stay in their uniforms so much. Those civilian clothes just screamed HELLO, THIS SHOW WAS FILMED IN THE NINETIES!
That Risa episode, their beachwear... oh my god, Dr. Bashir, those horrible pants! For once, Quark looked relatively elegant and understated in comparison to the Starfleet crew. I don't blame Worf one bit for wanting to keep his uniform on.
'Things Past' also proudly flaunted it's Nineties heritage - all the Bajoran refugees seemed very fond of those weirdly patterned canvassy hoodie sweaters that were so popular with the stoner kids in my neighborhood at the time.

Compared to those Risa outfits, Worf's little gold Speedo was positively classy.
It's so strange to think about Star Trek's taste. In artwork, interior design, music, they all like nice things, but as soon as it gets to clothes it's welcome to clowntown. It would have been cool to have a show from Garak's perspective - just a slice of life of him in the tailor shop, seeing what sort of things he makes.
