Pottery Barn

Thanks to Netflix, I've been watching a lot of American comedy movies. I loaded up on the genre when I was a kid, but since then, I've kind of avoided them... until now.

One thing I'm curious about, what's with all the pot? Isn't it still illegal in the U.S.? Yet it shows up all the time in these films and all the characters seem to know it by smell alone.

Even on Top Gear US Adam was able to identify the cigarette he found in his newly-bought used car as pot just by smelling it.

Nope. But usually the police only bother doing something about it if you wave it in their face or import tons of it.

If I were to describe the smell, I'd say it's sweet, but not like sugar. More like the kind of sweetness of compost. An earthy, heavy thing that you can almost taste, even with your mouth closed.

Maybe in the bigger picture, it was the least worrying thing to be into. Stoners at least don't usually run around killing themselves or others.

*clutches ribs* Oh god, I never thought about it, but you're SO RIGHT!

And damn, I know WAY too many stoners...
