Facebook Blues

I don't use my Facebook much. I'm just not much of a sharer with my real name attached.

This is easier, because it's kind of anonymous. I mean, my real name isn't Tanamy.

Anyway, back to Facebook. I think the problem with Facebook is that it lets you know people well, but only the sort of people that use Facebook. I have a few people friended that, truth be told, would have much more comfortable social interactions if only I didn't have to know so much about them. (these are people I can't de-friend, as they are either in, or closely connected to my family) There's one person I see maybe 1 or 2 times a year on holidays - I don't need to know that they'll have drunken anonymous bathroom sex in a bar with anyone that'll buy them shooters.

Facebook needs more specific privacy levels or something. Like, "unpolitic to defriend, but doesn't need to really know anything about my personal life" that would be a good one. Make it, and put me on it.

I've just started using Google+ and I especially like that you're not the same level of "friends" with everyone. Like people I went to school with for a single year aaaaaages ago are less friends to me than say... a current co-worker.

I do so hope Google+ will be big enough to be a contender along with Facebook. I do not like Facebook and I never really did.

I decided a long time ago that I couldn't keep up with everything, so I stopped trying. These days I mostly use Twitter, LJ and DW. I have profiles everywhere (including Tumblr and Facebook) but most of the social networking sites I'm on see me rarely. If Google+ were to get big enough and perhaps even interconnect somehow with Facebook, I'd go back on that wagon.

Google Health? I never even heard about it. What was it about?
