For Everything You Can't Wash, There's Febreeze
I've been wondering something. What do you think Deep Space Nine, like the station itself, smells like?
I mean, there's carpets and loads of food all over and recycled air and vole infestations and nobody ever seems to do any cleaning... sometimes when I'm watching I think about stuff like that.
Nobody ever seems to ...akwardly pause... when they walk in through the gear-doors, so it must get cleaned somehow. And I guess if it smelled bad, Captain Baseball Vulcan would have said something.

It seems that engineering has a hand in that job. At least I recall having heard of "waste extraction" as a place engineers get stationed. But yes, I think all space stations have a fair bit of odor. I also think that all space travellers get used to the various stinks fairly quickly.

It does take some of the shine off of space travel when you try to think what these places smell like and the best you can come up with is old gym socks and ozone.
